Our Story
Across 5 cities, 4 states and 8 years – Liesl and Joe's journey has embarked across a coast to coast journey to eventually settle in Washington State.
2016
Denver, CO – After meeting at the wedding of Liesl's sister Anna, where Liesl was the Maid of Honor and Joe was the Best Man, they hit it off. Eventually they decided to meet up for a weekend and the rest is history.
2017
Here, there, and everywhere – Liesl and Joe’s relationship continued to grow even with a thousand miles separating them. They racked up airline miles between monthly visits and a trip to Thailand and Vietnam to meet some of Joe’s extended family.
2018
San Francisco, CA – After dating for 2 years, they decided to finally live in the same city with Liesl moving in with Joe in the Bay Area.
2019
San Francisco, CA – Liesl and Joe continued cohabitating and even moved into their own apartment. Their bi-annual trip included Thailand (again) and Singapore.
2020
San Francisco, CA – Liesl and Joe’s relationship survived a layoff, job changes, and COVID-19. #Quaran-team
2021
San Francisco, CA – After a 6-month stint of being digital nomads, Liesl and Joe moved back to the heart of SF. They escaped the fog with a trip to Puerto Vallarta, MX.
2022
Here, there, and everywhere – Joe and Liesl both got fully remote jobs and didn’t want to keep paying Bay Area rent, so they set out on a journey exploring cities all over the country to decide where they wanted to settle down.
2023
Vancouver, WA – After trying out new cities, the couple moved their belongings from their Bay Area storage unit to “the other Vancouver” in the Portland, OR metro area.
2024
Vancouver, WA – Their biggest year yet! Joe and Liesl traveled to Amsterdam, Zurich, Paris, and London. While in Paris, Joe popped the question, and Liesl said yes. A few months later, they bought their first house.
